History of Rolling Stone
The Rolling Stones is a magazine that was created in San Francisco, California in 1967 by Jann Wenner and Ralph J. Gleason. This year marked its 50th anniversary. The first magazine issue was released on November 9, 1967. John Lennon was on the cover. The first issue was black and white and did not become full color until 1973. Rolling Stone relocated its office to New York City in 1977 and is still there today.
Overview
The Rolling Stone releases an issue every two weeks. The magazine was given awards at the National Magazine Awards in 2006 for Feature Photography and General Excellence in 2007. Many famous journalists got their start at Rolling Stones. Some of these journalists include Cameron Crowe, Lester Bangs, and Joe Klein.
